Practice

Mr. Brown is counsel with the Intellectual Property Department of the Firm. Since 1991, he has been practicing in intellectual property law, including trademark, trade dress, patent and copyright litigation matters in U.S. Federal courts, domain name arbitration under the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), intellectual property transactions and licensing, corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions and financing involving intellectual property assets, trademark, patent and copyright protection and registration in the U.S. and internationally, and trade secret and confidential information protection. Mr. Brown has extensive experience in a wide range of intellectual property matters for clients of all sizes. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Brown was a computer software programmer and consultant, and uses his computer experience to counsel clients in software development and licensing issues.

Mr. Brown regularly counsels clients in intellectual property protection issues in the U.S. and overseas, and has served as outside IP counsel for a multinational manufacturer of oil refinery equipment.

He is admitted to the bars of the States of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York and to the United States District Courts of the Eastern District of Michigan, the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the District of New Jersey and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Federal Circuit, the Second Circuit, the Sixth Circuit and the Ninth Circuit. He is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
